Little Patient

We were at Children's yesterday for Conner's little boy surgery. He did really great and is recovering almost like it never happened. I can't tell a difference in his activity or mood at all. The hardest part was keeping him distracted from wanting to eat breakfast. He usually wants to eat as soon as he wakes up in the morning but he couldn't have anything since they put him to sleep. Thankfully, the doctor got us in quick that morning and it wasn't too bad. He sucked down like 12 oz. of apple juice afterwards though!

Sleeping good after recovery.
Going home.

Atlanta

On the way back from Savannah we stopped in Atlanta for the night. We needed to break up the long trip back. Savannah is about a 6 hour drive if you drive non-stop. We went to the Braves game that Friday night and had a blast. Conner got to ride public transportation for the first time on the MARTA too!! He absolutely loved the baseball game! That was the best that he had acted all week. We even caught Friday night Fireworks which was a sweet surprise to us! Needless to say, that baby was conked out by the time the game was over and he slept half way through the fireworks. All the booms finally woke him up.

Conference in Savannah

Last week I had a conference in Savannah, GA. Shayne and the baby got to go with me and goof off all day while I sat in boring presentations (j/k). I got to have fun at night though with them! We did a whole lot of stuff. Shayne and Conner went to see the Savannah SandGnats play baseball. We went to the Crabshack, Tybee Island, took a river boat dinner cruise and went on a ghost tour ride on a horse and carriage. Our hotel was on the Riverwalk so we took a stroll every night and watched all the people. Conner loved the strolls at night. We had him to bed by the time we got back to the room most nights. We tried something new this time...instead of taking the pack-n-play, the hotel provided a crib. Well, it was kind of small as you can see from the pic below. He actually slept just as well in it though. I think we can pack a little lighter now that we figured out hotels provide cribs. Who knew?!

Our New Puppy Dog!

Conner has just about outgrown all of his hooded baby towels, so we upgraded to the kid size today. So cute!

4th of July

We went to Spring Valley Beach in Blountsville, AL during the day. Shayne and I had an ok time but we decided this was an F&L for us (first and last)! If Conner was bigger he would have really enjoyed the big pool, but it was so crowded. Also, the trash cans were swarming with yellow jackets. We're lucky we didn't get stung since there was a trash can like 10 feet from the only place we could find to set up.

They had a bunch of water slides which most were fun except for one. That one was basically a slide made out of concrete and you sit on a mat to slide down. Well, my mat slid out from under me and I skinned up my back a little. I think we'll be going to Alabama Adventure for now on. It's much closer, nicer, and more fun!

Anyway, we also went downtown for Thunder on the Mountain. Conner was a mess the whole time. There were some ladies sitting in the parking lot next to us and he had them laughing the whole time. They just loved him! I think he's going to be a little flirt in a few years...watch out ladies!

Beach Trip - PCB

We went to Panama City Beach last week and the trip didn't start off too great. We drove down late Friday night which was great b/c Conner slept the whole way. Shayne woke up Saturday morning with a bad sore throat, sinuses, allergies, etc. He had to leave us and go find a 7 day clinic. A quick steroid shot cleared him up and we were good to go. Well, almost. On Sunday morning Conner woke up with a fever. By 3 o'clock that afternoon we had him at the clinic with a 104.2 fever. Tylenol was not helping one bit. We had to undress him and put wet rags on him to cool him down. I was very scared b/c this is the first time he has really ever been sick. It ended up being a double ear infection so that kept us from the beach for the next few days. We were so proud of Conner b/c you wouldn't have even known he was sick. He was still smiling and playing with a 103 fever.

By Tuesday we were all able to go to the beach. Conner was feeling better for the most part. Depsite all the illnesses and everything we still managed to the make the best of it. We had a really good time. Christie, Scott, and the kids were down there too. Tanner and Kadie helped with the baby a lot. They can entertain Conner for hours! Here are some of the pictures from our trip.

Sick Baby watching Baby Einstein over and over and over....
Feeling better and chilling on the beach with daddy.

Not so happy, my ear still hurting a little.

Ok, that's a little better. Motrin is so much better than Tylenol in these situations.

Random pics from the beach.

Having a blast! (One of my favorite pics from the week!)

Look really close and you can see my bottom 2 teeth!

At the Zoo

We went to the zoo last Saturday and let Conner see all the animals. Most of the animals were being lazy and napping all day. But the petting zoo turned out to be a hit with the baby. He absolutely loved the llama and was laughing out loud at it. He wouldn't even let us leave the llama's sight without getting upset. That's something else new that Mr. Conner has learned recently....protesting when he doesn't get his way....

Uh Oh!

I think it's time to start keeping a closer eye on this guy. He is in to everything and becoming more destructive. I always know something is up when I don't hear any noise coming from the playroom. Somehow he got that donut around his leg!

Silly Cousins

We spent the night at my sister's house a few weeks ago. In the morning, Tanner and Kadie came and jumped in bed to play with Conner. We got this cute picture of them in their PJs playing. Tanner and Kadie are very sweet and good to Conner. Miss Kadie loves to give him kisses!

My New Swing

He absolutely loves this new swing. He laughed and smiled the whole time.

Cousin Adilyn came to play!

Our cousin Adilyn came over to play with Conner today. They had so much fun together and were very sweet to one another.

Adilyn says "put 'em up Conner"
Just kidding, I'll give you a kiss.
Ok, I'll kiss you too!

6 Month Birthday "Party"

We really didn't have a birthday party for Conner being 6 months. Shayne and I just needed a reason to go to Chuck-E-Cheese's...no really! Conner had fun too! He loved the Chuck-E-Cheese character on the stage. I wish they still had the whole band of characters up there instead of all those stinkin' tv's. That's what was so great about the place back when we were kids.

6 Month Check Up

Conner had his 6 month check up on Thursday. He now weighs 17 lbs. and 6 oz. and is 27" long. He did ok on his shots this time. We still don't have a fever as of yet. Keeping my fingers crossed. The pictures below were taken at his appointment. We got kind of bored waiting on the doctor, so Mommy made the most of the time.

We have had a lot of "firsts" over the past few weeks. He cut his two bottom toothies, he can wave bye-bye on a good day (still trying to master that one), and he is sitting up almost entirely by himself. Sometimes when Conner fusses it sounds like he says "mama" but he doesn't realize it...so I'm not going to claim that yet. I'm sure it won't be long before he says his first word. I bet it will be "ba-ba" since he likes to eat so much!

Cutie Pie!

Doesn't my baby look so grown up in his polo and khaki shorts? This was taken after Kim's baby shower yesterday. Since my hands were full, I didn't get to take any pictures there.

Kim got a ton of great stuff. I think she is all set for Baby Cole now! Congrats Kim and Dal!!! It was so good to see all of my friends from high school and college. I wish we could all get together more often, but it seems like we are all spread out over B'ham now. Come to think of it...our 10 year high school reunion is quickly approaching. Yikes, have we gotten that old already? :)
